I really enjoyed this play. It’s kind of similar to the style of The Vagina Monologues, in the sense that it’s a few women on stage all talking about certain outfits, certain situations, certain encounters that had an effect on them.
I love the one about purses being ridiculously full, the one about wearing tall boots during college with short skirts but then being assaulted and donating the skirts, and the one about going from Doc Martens in college to being bad at heels to learning to love Birkenstocks all to go back to heels.
Each of these stories feel important and real. This is a topic I’ve written about myself too–the point of clothes. The impact that they have on your being. Who they make you and how you pick them and what you remember about them.
Best line: And as silly as it may sound, I am generally happier when I have clothes like this in my life, when there’s something I know I can put on and feel good in. Something to fall back on (Ephron 25).
